Wow.. Don't think we could have had a better event unless it hadn't rained..

I meant to do this last night before/during/after the raffle and a few beer made it slip my mind..

Kevin Thorn.. GIJombo.. Dude.. Amazing work on getting this all together.. T-shirts, caterer, getting all those raffle items together and getting them to the park.. Taking the time all day Saturday for everything you did to make sure it all came off without a hitch..

Amazing work.. Thank you, THANK you, THANK YOU.. for putting everything you did into it and making it so easy for the rest of us to kick back and enjoy the day.

Yeah, I definitely agree with Token's above statement. You worked your tail off for quite a while on this AND sacrificed wheeling with us. Great job, Kevin! It would not have been as successful without your leadership and drive.

This was our first trip with the club also. I was amazed at how well the event was organized and was proud to be a small part of this club. THanks to all of those who helped put this together and to all for showing your support for our veterans. Also a big thanks to xjeeper and mudskipper for showing some new guys the ropes on the rocks. We had a blast and will definately be back for more.

Thanks for all the "Thanks"

I consider myself to have an extensive vocabulary, but I can't seem to find ANY words to describe the level of commitment and camaraderie of MSJ members. Even with the real stormy weather that kept everyone off the trails for awhile Saturday, everyone just gathered under the pavilion at made the best of the time together.

Friday afternoon on Greg's Rock was fun. Watching the likes of dabbs1 crawl up through the rock garden like it was a gravel driveway to Booger smoking the rubber off his tires! Matt's taco-ed tie rod slowed things down a bit but we got the Tater back on the rocks in no time. Not long after that, msubrian sliced the sidewall of a tire and blew the whole thing off the bead. That was a bit trickier situation and we just got him back on the rocks about the time it started to rain hard.

The Friday night birthday bash at the cabin was the BOMB! We seriously need to think about renting all of the out next time for MSJ events.

Saturday morning we started out on Ravine. We had a visitor from Shreveport, LA join our group in a Toyota 4Runner with IFS who also blew a tie rod. The downside to this breakage was no spare part. Managed to get the broken part off and made some calls to town to get replacements. Too bad they can't do air drops...gonna have to talk to the fellas here about that!

Saturday afternoon was the hardest of the rains and slowed wheeling down to an almost completed stop. Major KUDOS to the Arkansas Crawlers for hosting a burger lunch. That was right on time :headbang:

I had planned on skipping any afternoon riding anyway just get things in order for that night, plus I needed to be on standby to meet the caterer so they wouldn't get lost getting back in there.

All in all I look back and can think of a hundred things I'd do different. It was for the vets and although we raised some money, I was hoping we could have hurdled that obstacle and get some wounded vets out there. Jason made a good point and said it's not so much about giving vets rides off road more so than it is ALL you guys came out here this weekend in support of them. That's the focus of his journal that he's writing for magazine publication and the book he's writing, plus the documentary.

I want to personally thank everyone who came out in support. Some of you dropped some major cash at the raffle! My main goal in all of this was to announce to Jason that we were able to raise some money for the cause...and it turns out we exceeded what I thought we'd be able to do. :headbang:

I haven't scrubbed all the final numbers yet, but when I do I'll let everyone know how we did.

Thanks for trusting me to handle all this, too!

To be honest, after the Saturday night festivities an overwhelming exhaustion came over me. Probably cuz I didn't have to think anymore :D

Given everything involved I think the event went off extremely well, especially when you stop to consider the fact that this was our club's first attempt at organizing something of this magnitude.
And again, hat's off to Jombo for the enormous part he played in making this come together.
MS :D

Hey guys, my internet has really crapped out on me this trip, so I haven't had a chance to get on here much to post. From my reading, it sounds like everyone had an absolute BLAST....that just makes me wish I had been there that much more! Great pics, great stories behind the carnage, and a GREAT effort to help out a worthy cause.
